The US Commerce Department recently held a forum with university administrators and key stakeholders to discuss university commercialization. IPAO founder Dr. Renee Kaswan applauds the Commerce Department for its commitment to examine how university faculty and TTOs can work together. Kaswan is urging the agency to inject a healthy dose of competition into the tech transfer arena, saying "Too often university administrators interpret the Bayh-Dole Act very narrowly - this stifles channels for the translation of innovation at a time when we desperately need the jobs and economic activity that come with moving inventions into the marketplace."
